Christmas Chinese dinner
Kelly and Jay Gerstenhaber started a tradition five years ago with friends and family. They celebrate Hanukkah, so they decided to host a party on Christmas day called JEWbilee. The party is a gathering to nosh, schmooze and enjoy a little booze. The first year they hosted the party, they had about eight guests attend, but this year, the number grew to 46 guests including Celine Hecht (pictured, at right). They catered Chinese food, had Chinese-themed decorations and set up a full bar. They offered Jewish fortune cookies – which had funny phrases inside like “Have you called your mother?” Some new non-Jewish friends who don’t have anywhere to go for Christmas have joined in on the fun too. The cake was a Chinese to-go box.
