Chapelwood United Methodist Church volunteers

This summer, more than 130 high school students, 70 middle school students and 80 adults volunteered through the annual SUMMIT, a local serving experience hosted by Chapelwood United Methodist Church. Middle school volunteers helped out with tasks such as preparing health kits for the homeless, while high school volunteers deployed to repair more than 20 homes in the Greater Fifth Ward that were flooded in Hurricane Harvey. Pictured are (next page, top row, from left) Fred Keinz, Meredith Burpeau, Carrie Humphrey, Thomas Dickinson, Addison Overall, Brendan Glenn, Dan Prusak, (front row, from left) Maddie Stephens, Valerie (friend of homeowner) and Luke Springer. The volunteers gathered at Chapelwood on a Sunday afternoon for fellowship and training, where they spent the first of four nights on campus before leaving for their mission sites. Each night, teams returned to Chapelwood for dinner, worship and story sharing.
