Team Kolter strong
A team of 66 students from Kolter Elementary School (pictured) competed in the Houston Texans Kids Triathlon, presented by Texas Children’s Hospital. The two-day event, held at NRG Stadium, had more than 3,000 participants. Competitors in the juniors group, for ages 6-10, completed a 100-yard swim, 3-mile bike ride and half-mile run; the 11-15 year old seniors doubled those distances. The Kolter students prepared for the event with transition clinics led by Half Ironman finisher and parent Joe Sorena and swimming sessions donated by Wolfies Swim School. The athletes were excited to have Kolter staff members, including kindergarten teacher Lexandra Francisco, first-grade teacher Alyssa Heater and physical education coach Tammy Parker, cheering them on.
