Fighting for the win
The Post Oak Little League (POLL) Braves (pictured) celebrate under the scoreboard after winning the 2019 POLL majors championship. It was a close game, and the Braves beat the Yankees, 3-2. The road to the championship was long and hard. After a disappointing first-round loss, the Braves fought their way out of the losers’ bracket and won six games in a row, over a 10-day period. When they finally reached the championship they had to beat the Yankees twice to claim victory in the double-elimination series. The champion Braves are (top row, from left) Cameron Ertan, Christopher Torn, Conrad Slot, William Daly, Russell Johnston and Alexander Donnelly; (bottom row, from left) assistant coach Chris Torn, head coach Jay Kyle, Gray Evans, Jack Kyle, Davis McMayon, Houston Cruse, Gus Griggs, assistant coach Baris Ertan and assistant coach Sam Cruse.
