Embellished in red, white and blue, Memorial Villages gathered to celebrate the 243rd American Independence Day with the Villages Independence Festival. By partaking in various family-oriented activities, like a fun run, parade and musical entertainment, residents honored our freedoms and our community. With a 5K fun run into the festivities, the day served as an enjoyable opportunity for family members of all ages.

There were rides and games, including a petting zoo, pony rides, mazes, water slides, a train, fishing ponds and a bag toss game for kids. Other fun activities included face painters, hair spraying and spin art for teenagers. For adults, multiple groups had set up booths where residents showcased and conversed about local events and programs.

Though the music entertainment varies from year to year, as per tradition, the festival commenced by singing the National Anthem to the accompaniment of the Spring Branch ISD’s Honor Band. Local music and dance groups performed throughout the event.

The festival ended with a fire truck spraying water from the top of its fully extended ladder over kids who gathered in the middle of the grounds.
