It’s Greek to me
Mike Soulos and Steve Saks

A 10 o’clock dinner in Leros, Greece is common - after all, appetizers are enjoyed around 7:30-9:30 p.m. Pictured: Friends Mike Soulos and Steve Saks enjoying a late-night dinner.

For 40 years, Mike Soulos asked Steve Saks to visit him in his hometown of Leros, Greece. Timing is everything, and back then it was a 10-hour boat ride from Athens to get to Leros on the Aegean Sea. Now they have an airport with commercial flights. Mike and wife Jeanne have since built a Leros get-away home where Mike spends two to three months a year when he’s not coaching soccer at the Trotter Family YMCA. Steve fished with Mike and brother Nick Soulos and partied with the mayor of Leros, Michael Kolias. Every morning they took a few steps to the beach to have breakfast. They feasted on fresh fish every night, and Steve had a (sweet) three-pound lobster all to himself. He may not miss orzo, but he misses the beautiful island, people and laid-back lifestyle already.
