Artful day
Approximately 50 Texas Children’s Hospital patients attended an art party hosted by nonprofit Harrison’s Heroes for the opportunity to have their artwork featured on the 2019 Texas Children’s Hospital Christmas card. The Harrison’s Heroes Art Room in the Child Life Zone was transformed into an artist retreat with colorful balloons and banners, plus individual paint palettes, jars of paint brushes and boxes of markers. Festivities included snow cones, a photo booth, rock painting, spin art and music, staffed with TCH child life specialists and volunteers from Houston Junior Forum. Bailey the service dog joined in on the fun. Watch for the winning holiday cards, as they’ll be revealed soon. For more on Harrison’s Heroes, see harrisonsheroes.org. Pictured are members of Houston Junior Forum at the party: (from left) Amelia Alder, Candace Phillips, Karen Hardin, Kristen Carter, Betty Souther, Ann Oosthuizen, Lauri Wasmuth and (seated) Mary Reed.
