California or burst
It wasn’t all about the tasting rooms in Santa Barbara, Calif., but they sure were charming. Barbara and Lee Granniss spent a week at a beachside residence in Ventura. They also visited the valleys of Santa Ynez to enjoy farm-to-table meals and wines from local vineyards. Among their favorites were Lincomb Vineyard in Ballard Canyon and the Fess Parker Vineyard in Foxen Canyon. The panoramic views were part of the sensory overload they felt from their perch on an elevated porch. Barbara loved the Reagan Library located on the pinnacle of a remote hill in the Simi Valley. Perhaps what Louis Pasteur said is not always true: "A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world."
