In 1994, a group of Hunters Creek Elementary moms, past PTA presidents and neighbors gathered for the very first meeting of their newly formed Bunko group. Who knew a simple dice game would help ensure 25 lifelong friendships. Founding members Denise Williams, Pam Hunsaker, Casey Allen (San Antonio) and Peggy Snyder (Charleston) hosted the kickoff event with Bellinis and Bunko. The group still meets monthly in area homes. Only five members still live in Hunters Creek, although many have moved only a few miles away. The “Bunkettes” have taken an annual road trip for 17 years, often to visit members. These friendships provide emotional support through major life events, from deaths of parents and spouses to the joys of marriage of their children and the birth of grandchildren. Their Bunko motto is “Life rolls on, just like the dice!”
