Making waves
Fifth-grade swimmers Priscilla Breitbeil and Eva Gei (pictured, from left) competed at the Greater Houston Athletic Conference (GHAC) Championship held at the British International School. Priscilla swims breaststroke and backstroke, while Eva competes in freestyle and butterfly. Both girls are members of the St. Mark’s Episcopal School swim team, which is in only its second year of existence. A number of students had expressed interest in being part of a school swim team, so when St. Mark’s was able to find a pool for practices, they established the team. The 22-member team competes in swim meets throughout the Houston area, and practices twice a week at 5:45 a.m. at the Weekley Family YMCA.
