Softball sisters
In an effort to keep up their softball skills, Elliot Loper (pictured, left) tosses a ball for her sister, Caroline (right) to hit. The girls had both started their spring softball games when the pandemic began and forced the season’s cancellation. Elliot plays second base and outfield for both Pershing Middle School and the West University Softball Association (WUSA). Caroline, a student at Mark Twain Elementary, plays first and second base for WUSA and Stix Academy. The girls are thankful for their coaches, who have reached out to all of the players. Pershing Middle School coach David Burgan brought each player a handwritten note, and Stix Academy coach Juan Garcia sends weekly workouts to the team to help them stay connected.
