The cover art for Looking Up, an anthology created by Eugenie Pflieger, Lily Shenoy and Adel Lee to support Houston's homeless population during the coronavirus pandemic. (Image created by Adel Lee)
The British International School of Houston’s “Looking Up” Anthology has been released! “Looking Up” is an anthology comprised of BISH students’ art and writing that will benefit Healthcare for the Homeless Houston. Adel Lee, Meghana Shenoy, and I were the creators of the anthology, and we would like to share a piece of the anthology that explains the wonderful experiences we had working on the anthology and the experiences readers will have when opening the front cover!
Looking Up has allowed us to take control during an uncertain time. Being able to use the power of visual and literary arts to fundraise for Houston’s homeless has been an incredible experience. It was brilliant to see how the BISH community could mend together to make a wonderful work of art. We hope this book resonates with you in some way - that you will one day look back on this time and remember your strength and resilience. We hope you will remember spending time with your family and the way heroes, educators, and the world worked kindly to adjust in an unprecedented time. We want to thank each and every one of the teachers, staff, and Healthcare for the Homeless administration from the bottom of our hearts for volunteering your time, efforts, and talent to make a difference. Always remember that each act of kindness, however large or small, can initiate a change in the world. – Meghana Shenoy for the Editors’ Note in “Looking Up: A BISH Anthology”
We hope you will take the time to help us help our community so we can encourage everyone to “look up” during these challenging times. The anthology is now being sold on Amazon here.
