A free-style season
Freestyle is a favorite swim stroke for Kate Bonner (pictured), a fifth grader at Bunker Hill Elementary. Along with the rest of the Memorial Forest Club swim team, she participated in a nontraditional summer season. Like other clubs in the division, Memorial Forest created a special season so swimmers could enjoy some time in the pool. The goal for the season was self-improvement, led by swim team coaches Justin Schreer and Luke Funderburk. Last summer, Kate’s favorite part of swim team was hanging out with her friends at the swim meets, and she is looking forward to being back in the pool next summer, when the team plans on a more normal experience.
