Summer fun and service
Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church’s annual Summer Celebration experience was different from past summers due to the pandemic, but participants and volunteers had a fun and inspirational experience – from home. The virtual program included religious education and worship and activities kids could enjoy from home, plus service projects. Overall, participants packed meals for 2,500 kids through Kids’ Meals Emergency Packs, bagged 6,250 pounds of rice and 1,250 pounds of beans to distribute through the Fuente Food Pantry, collected 700 books for students at Treasure Forest Elementary School, and raised nearly $5,000 to help feed families from the New Life School in Guatemala. Pictured are (from left) Addison Cadwell, Ava Childs and Colette Childs bagging beans for MDPC’s Fuente Food Pantry. See mdpc.org/connect/serve/ for upcoming service opportunities.
