Home-run event
AVDA’s (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse) virtual 2020 Home Safe Home Gala raised $429,500 for the nonprofit. Guests drove through at Minute Maid Park, where more than 350 took home a four-course dinner by Potente’s executive chef Danny Trace. Later that evening, the program was broadcasted from Union Station at Minute Maid Park. Gala chairs Vanessa and Chuck Ames welcomed the watching crowd with CEO Maisha Colter, board members Twila Carter and Christina Stith, and former AVDA client Dr. Rebecca Berens. Dori Kornfeld Goldman was honored with the Joseph D. Jamail Award for Justice, Tony Bradfield received the Heart of Houston Award, and the National Council of Jewish Women – Houston Section was recognized with the Faithful Founders Award. AVDA offers legal representation, counseling, intervention and advocacy. AVDA patrons gathered at Potente.
