Podcasting about politics

The goal of The Young Perspective podcast is to stimulate and grow the minds of young people through new ideas, lots of debate and interesting guests. As an organization, we strive to provide our peers with different opinions on topics that matter most.

Over the past year, we have discussed topics like voting age, patriotism, leadership, free speech, elections and more. We have learned from interesting guests on the topics of involvement in politics and what it looks like to be a young leader in your community. Our target audience is ages 14 to 21. We feel this age range is when people discover who they are, develop their opinions about the world, and cultivate a worldview.

Our journey began last year. We noticed the lack of political enthusiasm from young people and how that might affect the upcoming election. We thought we could make a difference by exploring a new medium that we knew little about – podcasting. After weeks of researching and preparing for our first episode, we released our podcast and have produced a podcast every week since.

We just began our third season. We plan to expand our podcasting abilities, cover a wide range of perspectives, and bring in more interesting guests. Looking forward, we want to grow our audience locally and nationally, which would allow us to inform more youth about what is going on in our world.

The Young Perspective can be found on all major podcast-streaming platforms, such as Apple Podcasts and Spotify. We are always open to hearing from prospective guests or anyone with new ideas.
