Trivia time

The nonprofit Breakthrough Houston hosted the second annual “Are You Smarter Than A Breakthrough Student?” trivia event, which took place via Zoom this year. Co-chairs Gisela and Igor Cherches, Allison and Kyle O’Neill, and Linsay and Jeremy Radcliffe planned the evening of competitive trivia and cocktails. Participants saw how they measured up against Breakthrough Houston students by answering questions based on the organization’s curriculum. Quizmasters were David Gow and Carla Dawson of Gow Media. Vanderbilt freshman Collins Agyeman spoke on how Breakthrough Houston helped him achieve his educational goals, and eighth-grader Shelby Haskett closed out the evening with final remarks. The winning team, Nerd Immunity, participated from New York City after being “recruited” by chair Gisela Cherches. Supporters raised more than $130,000.
