Event Roundup: What to Look Forward to This Holiday Week
Happy Friday and Merry Christmas! Here are some fun happenings around town this holiday season. Before you head out, be sure to check event sites to monitor any Covid- or weather-related changes.
Zoo Lights
Each night during the holiday season, the Houston Zoo is transformed into a magical winter spectacular, with LED lighting illuminating the pathways and trees. To allow for proper social distancing, tickets must be purchased in advance.
Galaxy Lights
Visit Space Center Houston for this technologically-advanced light display, featuring kinetic lights, 3-D holiday décor, a 200-foot LED light tunnel and more. Galaxy Lights is open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. each night, and the full experience takes about 90 minutes.
Seismique Grand Opening
Houston’s newest permanent experiential art museum, Seismique, opens to the public on Saturday. Check out the 40-plus unique exhibits with dazzling displays of light generated by 9 million LEDs, color, sound and natural elements. The exhibit is designed for all ages and features work by over two dozen established and emerging artists.
Santa Paws
Bring your fur baby to Johnny McElroy’s Irish Pub and Patio on Sunday to get their photo taken with Santa! Photos are $10 and the money benefits a local charity.
Alley Theater Presents A Christmas Carol
The Alley Theatre is offering a free digital performance of A Christmas Carol to all Houstonians. A resident company of actors assembled to perform a new production of the heartwarming classic that you can enjoy from the comfort of your own home.
Candlelight Open Air: Holiday Special Featuring Tchaikovsky & Winter Classics
Enjoy a holiday themed outdoor concert in classy environment, surrounded by candlelight. These one-hour concerts take place on select dates at 6 and 9 p.m. Houston musicians of the Listesto String Quartet perform in an intimate atmosphere at Hughes Manor and Avant Garden.
Jingled Up Holiday Pop Up
Open through Jan. 3, 2021, Jingled Up is an over-the-top, immersive holiday-themed pop up experience located on Main St. The space features wall to ceiling holiday décor, holiday boozy cocktails, photo-op installations, and live DJ’s. This is a ticketed event with limited capacity.
