It started about 20 years ago. Valerie Street neighbors would often share fruit from their trees with one another. So Terry Upton, without any fruit trees of her own, sneaked off to the grocery store to buy some fresh fruit to share, too. Ultimately, the neighbors’ backyard fruit trees inspired her and husband Dave to plant some in their own yard. Today, their yard features several varieties of tall fruit trees, yielding grapefruit, Meyer lemons and satsuma oranges, and they love sharing. This season yielded tons of fruit, and Terry was excited to bake a pound cake with a lemon glaze on top to give to friends as a Christmas treat. She also makes muffins and other baked goods, plus lemonade or orange juice with her grandchildren. Pictured are Terry Upton with grandkids Blair (on right) and Cash Upton (left).
