Play football like a girl
Annya Schramm (pictured, right) joined a group of boys to play football for the SBMSA JV Cowboys. The Frostwood Elementary second grader played defensive tackle for the Cowboys, and the team had a winning season, progressing to the flag football silver-division playoffs. Annya’s teammate and brother, Jonathan Schramm (pictured, left), was also on the team. This was Annya’s second football season, and she had a great experience being part of a team that treated her no differently than any of the boys. She was the only girl playing JV flag football for SBMSA this season. The league had another female player in the freshman division and has had several others play both flag and tackle football in the past.
