The Village School’s student body president, senior Jillian Marty (pictured), participated in the school’s annual Innovation Day. Using a virtual format, school administrators were able to replicate the traditional event that allows students to approach real-world problems using creative solutions and present their findings. Highlights of this year’s Innovation Day were elementary students who designed solutions to live on Mars in zero gravity, middle-school students who composed new music, and high-school students who developed their own businesses including a sustainable cleaning company and a service that delivers food to the community during the pandemic. In addition to student presentations, Innovation Day featured outside speakers, including keynote speaker Daniel Newmyer, vice president of education at Space Center Houston.
