For the past nine years, professional New York City choreographer Kimberly Schafer (pictured, front center) has visited Second Baptist School (SBS) to set pieces for the upper-school musical performance. This year, the SBS cast of Newsies, including Kate Davidson, Jack Prothro, Lauryn Edwards, and Francesca Garvin (pictured, from left), learned several dance numbers with the talented choreographer. “Ms. Kim,” as she is affectionately known by SBS students, taught the moves for dance numbers “Seize the Day,” “Carrying the Banner,” “The World Will Know,” and “King of New York.” Ms. Kim also worked with individual students to help them portray each Newsies character in the most authentic way possible. “This was one of the hardest shows I've choreographed at SBS. People are going to be blown away by their talent!” she said.

Editor’s note: The Buzz congratulates our regular Buzz About Town writer, associate editor Jordan Steinfeld, and her husband Matthew on the recent arrival of baby Sloane. Jordan is taking a short break to spend time with Sloane. In the meantime, Buzz writer Angie Frederickson is handling this column.
