Big Stratford success
Stratford High School’s annual volunteer event, The Big Day, was a big success. More than 515 volunteers and 25 groups participated in community-service initiatives. The lively kick-off with music and encouraging words by event co-chairs Ava Somera and Kesteren Beck, as well as principal Raymorris Barnes, got all of the teams excited for the day. During the event, Stratford's girls and boys soccer teams (pictured) made 200 bags for homeless Houstonians. The school’s National Honor Society made 700 bags for children in the area. After volunteering at 15 neighborhoods, churches, and local establishments, the groups returned to Stratford to enjoy a festive lunch of burgers and hot dogs.
