Piano concert for a cause
Piano students, all junior members of the National Federation of Music Clubs who participate in the Bayou City Federated Music Club, held a concert to raise funds for children in need. This was the eighth annual fundraising event for Save the Children; the events have raised a total of $15,000 so far. The students set up a YouTube Live session as well as a GoFundMe event page. They each chose a country to research, gave a presentation about children of their chosen country, and dedicated their performance to the kids of that country. Participating students were (from left) Sophia Rassin (Honduras), Connor Feng (Myanmar), Miriam Yampuler (United States), Reem Kazzaz (Yemen), Andy Shen (Syria), Jack Whitehead (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Gayah Hampel (Israel), and their teacher Mrs. Iris Carrión Beatty.
