Kinder HSPVA Welcomes Incoming Students
To welcome incoming 9th graders and new students, the Kinder High School of the Performing and Visual Arts hosted Artist Academy 2021, an all-day event spent on campus to explore the learning environment, meet fellow classmates, and get a taste of PVA.
The Senior Ambassador team and the Student Council spent a week creating handmade banners, visual displays, and balloon arches before the event. The buzz of excitement was rising. Finally, PVA opened its doors for Artist Academy. The morning started off with jazz tunes performed by instrumental department students, speeches to introduce staff and faculty followed, and a short skit by senior ambassadors.
Then, the incoming students were grouped into smaller pods for a game of trivia, writing letters to future selves, and more. The interactions carried throughout lunch, where students had a chance to mingle and meet new people prior to the official start of school.
Then, PVA hosted its first-ever Happening of the Year, a beloved event consisting of short acts, performances, and more by students. One of the largest events hosted several times throughout the school year, the Happening served as the perfect opening to capture the creative, artistic, and unique spirit of Kinder HSPVA.
From an all-out performance of singing, group dancing, and the mariachi band, the Happening easily captured the enthusiasm of all. With a complete light setup, the stage truly showcased the diverse talent of the school and introduced the idea of PVA.
The day ended with a school-wide scavenger hunt to familiarize students with their new learning environment. From an array of dazzling performances to exciting activities, Artist Academy 2021 served as the first memorable experience for the milestone of high school for many.
