Quiz for a cause
The trivia-night fundraiser benefiting Breakthrough Houston, a nonprofit that prepares under-resourced students for college, raised nearly $200,000 at its third annual event. Held at The Armadillo Palace, the trivia night drew 235 guests and was chaired by Shonali and Rakesh Agrawal, Lara and Derek Hollingsworth, and Karen Arnold. Twenty-four teams competed on topics ranging from general sports knowledge to geometry to sciences. Quizmasters were David Gow and Carla Dawson of Gow Media. In the final round, regardless of standing, teams were able to buy their way back into the competition. Ultimately, the winners were the Coog Quiz Conclave, a group of University of Houston Honors College students.
