Thanking frontline workers
During Covid, the Muslims of Bellaire and Nearby Neighborhoods (MBN) launched a youth initiative to honor and thank frontline workers. Starting over Thanksgiving 2020, participants honored the Bellaire Sanitation Crew, and, since then, the group has worked to honor additional frontline workers, including sanitation, postal, and Metro workers. Recently, the group brought kolaches, donuts, fruit trays, and handmade gratitude cards to the MLK Clinic, part of Harris Health. Pictured at MLK Clinic are (from left) Haya Allaham, Lady Barrs, Stacey Washington, Johanna Smith, and Aleena Gilani. This winter, MBN youth participants are distributing food and cold-weather attire to those in need.
