NEHS at Horn

Horn Elementary School recently held its first National Elementary Honors Society (NEHS) ceremony. Horn is one of five Houston elementary schools to join the National Elementary Honor Society. Teacher sponsors Laura Anderson and Michael Hunt, along with officers Kiran Bansal (president), Colton Rich (vice president), Callie Hodges (historian), Olivia Zager (secretary), and Sanvi Pandit (reporter) led the NEHS class induction. Students invited to join held grade averages of at least 90 percent with excellent marks in conduct and are expected to give back to the community, school, and peers throughout the year. A few events hosted by NEHS have included assisting at the Bellaire Nature Discovery Center’s Fall Festival and a pajama drive for Casa de Esperanza. This month, the students will volunteer at the Houston Food Bank and, in the spring, they will collect pet food for Animeals.
