Sharing Girl Scout cookies
Second-grade teacher Michele Trieb (pictured, right) surprised her granddaughter Ava Terwelp (pictured, left) by showing up at Evergreen Park where Ava’s troop was selling Girl Scout cookies. Ava, a fourth grader at St. Vincent de Paul School, is in a Girl Scout troop with other girls who attend Horn Elementary School and they set up a cookie stand in the park. Michele purchased the remaining 23 boxes from the troop to bring to her students who come from underserved neighborhoods, and most have never tasted Girl Scout cookies before. She plans to serve the cookies at snack time as a special treat throughout the rest of the school year.
