The Awty International School’s annual Upper School Club Fair took place on Weds., Sept. 21, 2022, with an array of unique clubs for students to join. Clubs such as the Animal Rights Club, Table Tennis Club, Robotics Club, and Poetry Club were just a few of the dozens of clubs present at the diverse fair. While attending, I interviewed students Farrah Fahl and Juan Lechin about their clubs and what the club fair means to them.
Freshman Farrah Fahl showed excitement about the future of her club, Muslim Student Association (MSA). MSA’s primary goal is to educate students and faculty about Islam while hosting fundraisers for Islamic countries in crisis.
“MSA will embrace Islam’s beautiful nature at Awty in a vibrant way that everyone can participate in,” explained Farrah.
I also interviewed senior Juan Lechin about his club, The Venezuelan Care Club (VCC). VCC educates students about the current humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and highlights ways in which the Awty community can support the country.
Senior Juan Lechin showcasing the Venezuelan Care Club.
“The VCC helps me to embrace my roots in the Awty community and raise awareness among my peers about the current socioeconomic standing of Venezuela,” described Juan.
MSA and VCC were only a small fraction of the clubs represented at the Club Fair. The central goal of Club Fair was to allow students to express their passions to the rest of the community. The clubs ranged from fun, lighthearted activities like the Board Game Club to service-oriented themes like the Code Blue CPR Club.
Like always, the Club Fair was a success, and hundreds of students committed to clubs of their liking. Food, fun, and festivities lit up the fair, and even the faculty enjoyed watching the annual swarm of students and posters.
Now that the Fair is over, the Rams are already planning ways to make the 2023 Fair bigger and better for the next batch of students! Awty expects a busy, fulfilling, and exciting year for students, thanks to the annual US Club Fair!
