Saint Thomas’ Episcopal School fourth grader Ellie Loayza and fifth grader Sophia Edwards (pictured, from left) danced in Houston Ballet’s production of Stanton Welch’s The Nutcracker at the Wortham Center. Ellie performed dual roles of Cavalry and Lamb; Sophie’s roles included Party Girl and Cook. Both girls are accomplished dancers with Houston Ballet Academy and are returning performers in the beloved Nutcracker production. Juggling school and many after-school hours in the dance studio can be demanding, but Ellie and Sophia enjoy the challenge. Both girls began dance instruction as toddlers and are now committed to putting in the effort it takes to be successful both in the classroom and on stage.
