More than 50 performers create a magical night with gorgeous costumes, music and culture. The cast is made up of the Guadalajara Folkloric Ballet, the Mariachi Juvenil Colotlán, the group Pepe and its Pepillos and the charro flourish champion, Jesús Ortiz.

Bayou City Dances Produced by The Pilot Dance Project

Bayou City Dances is a celebration of Houston’s most vibrant and prolific dance companies. Produced by the celebrated arts organization The Pilot Dance Project, Bayou City Dances is a festival that magnifies the diversity of the city’s choreographic voices, featuring new works on the Miller Outdoor Theatre stage. The dance forms showcased include Modern, contemporary, salsa, classical Indian, ballet, and hip-hop. The inaugural roster features regionally and nationally recognized dance companies, artistic directors, and choreographers.
Go Bananas!

“Go Bananas!” at the Houston Botanic Garden’s family-friendly festival. Attendees can sample different banana varieties, help judge a banana bread baking competition, shop a festive market featuring local vendors, visit with the Garden’s horticulturists to learn tips for growing bananas at home, and purchase a potted banana plant from the Garden’s collection. With a live DJ, craft stations, and banana margaritas, the day features activities for every age and interest. For an additional fee ($75), visitors can elevate the Go Bananas! experience with a delicious, upscale brunch with chef Marlies Wasterval of Fresh from Mars, featuring four courses of curated banana-centric dishes.

Mid-Autumn Festival sponsored in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance and in collaboration with VCSA. Each year, the Vietnamese Culture and Science Association partners with the Children’s Museum Houston to bring this celebration to the city of Houston. Celebrate Mid-Autumn Fest through activities such as lantern making, a special storytime, a lion dance, and more.
Drink Out for the Dome

The community is invited to attend a special event celebrating the launch of an October fundraising campaign titled Drink Out for the Dome at 8th Wonder. Enjoy a Dome-and-vintage-themed artisan and vendor market, food trucks, a DJ, and the opportunity to be the first to taste 8th Wonder’s Drink Out for the Dome beverages, the Cosmic Dome cocktail and the Space Spritz mocktail. The event signifies the start of the campaign, which runs during the month of October at 13 participating bars across Houston – each of which has conceptualized a special Dome-themed cocktail for the campaign. $1 from the sale of each specialty Drink Out for the Dome cocktail will benefit the Astrodome Conservancy, the non-profit champion of the Dome on behalf of the people of Houston and Harris County.

Houston Chamber Choir Presents 'The Son of Man' with the Houston Symphony

The Grammy Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, under the direction of Founder and Artistic Director Robert Simpson and Artistic Director Designate Dr. Betsy Cook Weber, launches its 30th season with the world premiere of “The Son of Man,” a brilliant new work by renowned English composer Patrick Hawes. In a first-ever collaboration, the Choir will be accompanied by musicians with the renowned, Grammy Award-winning Houston Symphony. Conducted by Simpson, this is his final year as Houston Chamber Choir’s artistic director.

“The Latin Side of Houston” Featuring The Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra Produced by Diaz Music Institute

“The Latin Side of Houston” features music written in honor of Houston’s legendary musicians compositions reimagined in a Latin jazz setting. Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra will perform music from artists such as The Crusaders, Joe Sample, Ronnie Laws, Norma Zenteno, Conrad Johnson, and Beyoncé. This performance is a definite must-see and will serve as a reminder of the transcending work of Houston’s music legends. The Houston Latin Jazz Orchestra led by Grammy-Nominated music director José Antonio Diaz, features some of Houston’s best Latin jazz artists.
