Houston Christian High Schoolers to March in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
The 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will include some lucky Houston Christian High School students. Twenty-one girls that are part of the school’s DOXA Dance Company and the Silver Spurs Drill Team auditioned and were invited to perform with the Spirit of America Dancing Stars.
The Houston Christian High School Mustangs, including Emilie Abraham, Leah Babbitt, Camille Bavaro, Georgia Bedre, Camella Brown, Kaylin Caesar, Mia Chieng, Amelia Cooper, Riley Devlin, Kenny Erler, Ellie Kay Eubanks, Elizabeth Fuselier, Brianna Lemon, Carley Martin, Elizabeth Mason, Alyssa Melton, Payton Mitchell, Abby Pisklak, Taylor Williford, Olivia Wilson, and Charlotte Young, will march the 2.5-mile route from Central Park West to 34th Street ending at 7th Avenue in front of Macy's Herald Square where the Spirit of America dancers will perform a choreographed routine. The group performance consists of 500 dancers, 14-18 years of age, from high schools and studios across the United States.
Last March, the Houston Christian dancers competed in a Crowd Pleasers dance competition and scored high enough to receive an invitation to participate in the Macy's Day parade.
Houston Christian High School Dance Director Melissa Tyler shared, “This is a fantastic experience for the girls to participate in the amazing American tradition of the Macy’s Day Parade.”
The group flew up on Saturday and have been practicing their routine. The girls are enjoying seeing all the famous spots with Big Apple highlights including a Broadway show, the Rockettes performing at Radio City Music Hall, and a harbor tour. Many of their families are traveling to New York to watch the parade.
The Marcy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will air on NBC and Peacock on Thurs., Nov. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in all time zones, followed by an encore telecast from 2-5 p.m. TODAY Show’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker will host the celebration. See the lineup here.
