1st Annual ‘Comin’ In Hot’ Competition Benefiting Recipe For Success Foundation
The heat is on as Recipe for Success Foundation proudly presents the 1st annual "Comin’ In Hot" Pro-Am Hot Sauce Competition, set to take place on Aug. 3, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at their Hope Farms Urban Agricultural Showcase and Training Center. This sizzling event promises to be a fiery showdown between Houston’s top chefs and the city’s hottest amateur sauce makers.
Recipe for Success Foundation will award the winner $500 and a spot on the shelves of the Hope Farms Market for a year. Four judges, all food journalists from Houston, will select the winner from among all the contestants in a blind tasting. Five spicy pros are lined up to compete against 10 home cooks:
- Tony Lurhman: Chef-Owner of Maximo, bringing his innovative heat to the competition.
- Victoria Elizondo: The mastermind behind Cochinita & Co, known for her bold, authentic flavors.
- Kevin Bryan: The creative talent of KB Culinary, renowned for his masterful techniques and spicy creations.
- Chase Voelz: A standout chef from Bludorn, celebrated for his contemporary approach and fiery palate.
- Suu Khin: A multifaceted talent as a Master Chef finalist, pop-up dinner host, food blogger, stylist, and photographer, adding her unique twist to the heat.

A $5 donation to attend the event can be made online. Click here to get your tickets. (Note that children under 10 are free with an adult.) Guests get a taste of all the entries and an opportunity to vote for the Audience Favorite. Saint Arnold Brewing will be offering free beer to anyone over 21 and Hope Farms will have botanical nonalcoholic beverages, music, games and crafts to round out the day’s fun. Ticket holders will be able to purchase additional refreshments and farm-fresh produce.
