20th Annual Lauren Lockard Memorial “Run with the Saints”
St. John Paul II Catholic School (StJPII) will host its 20th Annual Lauren Lockard Memorial “Run with the Saints” (RWTS) benefiting The Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8:20 a.m. One of the few races to occur in West Harris County, RWTS winds through the tranquil tree-lined streets around StJPII, near Briar Forest and Eldridge.
“Run with the Saints” is open to the public and includes a 5K as well as a family-friendly Kids’ K. Both events start from StJPII. Refreshments will be provided to all participants at the post race party. Parking is available on the streets around the school. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group and top three runners and walkers overall.
One of the school’s longest-standing traditions, this year the race takes on special significance as it celebrates its 20th Anniversary. “Run with the Saints” is held annually in loving memory of Lauren Lockard, a former student who lost her brave battle against cancer in August 1999. Since then, the race has raised over $100,000 for The Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation and StJPII’s Athletics Department. Sponsors of the 2018 “Run with the Saints” include Houston Methodist West, Enclave Vision Associates, Xtrac Restoration, Good Times Running Company and Reach Stretch Studios.
