Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper by Troop 222

Bellaire’s BSA Troop 222's Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will take place Tues., Feb. 21, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Bellaire United Methodist Church. 
 
Shrove Tuesday, also known as Fat Tuesday, is the day before the start of Lent, and traditionally a period of abstinence, and associated with clearing your cupboards of goods such as sugar, fats, and eggs. The tradition of eating pancakes on Shrove Tuesday comes from wanting to use up these foods before the Lent began. In the French-speaking world, the day is known as Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday and is the theme of Troop’s pancake supper.
 
The Pancake Supper is an important fundraiser for the Troop in additional to an opportunity for the scouts to serve their community at a time of celebration and fellowship. Troop 222 members will be cooking and serving pancakes, sausage, and offering fruit and juice as well as planning, setting up and cleaning up. There will be adult supervision in the kitchen as well as at the ticket table and serving area. Enjoy your pancake dinner with family and friends in a colorful Mardi Gras decorated room with the toe-tapping music of piano playing.
 
Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door (small increase at the door) and donations are always welcome. Troop members will be selling tickets between services at Bellaire United Methodist Church on Feb. 19 and a representative will have tickets available for sale at every Troop 222 scout meeting on Monday evenings at 7 p.m.  Advanced tickets are $8 for individuals or buy a Family ticket for $25 (up to 4 people). Take home dinners are also available
