The Beacon's Come to the Table
Ten of Houston’s top chefs will come together in one kitchen at The Beacon Day Center on Sept. 21, combining their talents to raise funds for The Beacon and its programs that serve Houston’s homeless. The Beacon’s seventh anniversary of Come to the Table is a two-part culinary event beginning at 6 p.m. in Nancy’s Garden next to The Beacon Day Center in downtown Houston. Proceeds from the event support The Beacon, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides essential and next-step services to restore hope and help end homelessness in Houston.
This unique collaboration will feature Houston’s most celebrated chefs who will execute an unforgettable wine-paired, four-course dinner prepared in the very kitchen that serves hundreds of Houston’s poor and homeless each operating day. This year’s chefs include Lyle Bento from Southern Goods; Maurizio Ferrarese from Quattro at Four Seasons Hotel; Philippe Gaston from Izakaya; Mark Holley from Holley’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar; Manabu “Hori” Horiuchi from Kata Robata Sushi + Grill; Ruben Ortega from Hugo’s, Backstreet Cafe, Caracol and Xochi; Mike Puccio from The Beacon; John Sheely from Lowbrow Restaurant and Bar; Claire Smith from Alice Blue, Canopy, and Woodbar; and Antoine Ware from Harold’s Restaurant, Bar and Terrace.
Event co-chairs Bess and Matt Wareing have planned a fantastic evening, beginning with an alfresco Garden Party Reception in Nancy’s Garden where guests will enjoy light bites and beverages from Cake and Bacon, Double Trouble, Harlem Road Texas BBQ, Harold’s Restaurant, Bar and Terrace, Ritual and Saint Arnold Brewing Company.
The event will then move inside The Beacon Day Center for a one-of-a-kind chef-inspired meal and live auction. Deborah Duncan of Great Day Houston on KHOU-TV will serve as event emcee. New to the event this year -- guests will enjoy behind-the-scenes footage of the chefs at work in the kitchen as cameras capture the action during meal preparation and service.
