Breakthrough Houston’s Envision a Bright Future Spring Luncheon
Breakthrough Houston’s annual luncheon will take place at St. John’s School on Monday, March 2, 2020. Co-chairs Kelli Kickerillo and Todd Forester, Vicky and Gordon Wight, and Sarah and Richard Punches will lead the Envision a Bright Future event, which raises much-needed funds to support Breakthrough’s growth across Houston and celebrates the achievements of Breakthrough’s inspiring teachers and students.
Tony Danza, the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actor, will deliver the keynote address. Best known for his roles on Taxi and Who’s the Boss?, Danza spent the 2009-2010 school year teaching 10th grade English at Northeast High School in Philadelphia; in 2012 he published a book recounting his experience: I'd Like to Apologize to Every Teacher I Ever Had.
Breakthrough Houston is an educational program that prepares students with high academic potential, but limited educational resources, for competitive high schools and college admission. Through its unique “students-teaching-students” model, Breakthrough also trains talented college and high school students for careers in education.
