A Children's House for the Soul Lunch & Learn for Families and Friends

A Children’s House for the Soul will host a Lunch and Learn on Oct. 10, 11 a.m. at The Health Museum in Houston. The event is open to the public and is designed to increase awareness about the impact chronic skin conditions and birthmarks have on children and their families, and highlight resources available to enable children to thrive.

Skin disease affects approximately 20 percent of children and teens, and nearly 5 percent of the population has a significant birthmark. Children and their parents often feel alone, discouraged and frustrated by stares, questions, and negative responses to their condition. In a culture that places a high emphasis and value on traditional beauty, learning coping strategies and being with others facing the same challenges and feelings helps to build self-confidence and acceptance.

A Children’s House for the Soul is a local non-profit dedicated to supporting the social, emotional and spiritual needs of these children and teens affected by birthmarks and skin conditions and their families. Lunch will be provided, as well as admission to the stunning Body as a Work of Art exhibit at the Museum. A Children’s House for the Soul kids and families are featured in the exhibit, with photography by world-renowned, Rick Guidotti, of Positive Exposure.

A Children’s House for the Soul will be hosting several other social hours at The Health Museum for medical professionals, including:
