City of Bellaire's Fourth of July Parade and Festival
The City of Bellaire's Fourth of July Parade and Festival begins at 9:30 a.m. with a parade of local school bands, floats, scout troops and classic cars all decorated in the spirit of July 4. Awards will be given to the three best looking floats or groups that have kept with the parade theme of Go for Gold, to help kick off the Summer Olympics. Stay and enjoy the Fourth of July Festival in Bellaire Town Square immediately after the parade.
Big Parade Information: The parade will start at the corner of Mapleridge and Bellaire Blvd. Parade participants and floats need to line up at the Bellaire Triangle, on the corner of Chimney Rock and Bellaire Boulevard between 8:30-9:30 a.m. The parade will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Parade participants will exit the Bellaire Triangle at the Mapleridge entrance on Bellaire Blvd.and head east on Bellaire to take a right on S. Rice. Then it will pass the festival site (Bellaire Town Square) and turn right onto Jessamine. To participate in the parade you must complete an application form and return it to Bellaire Parks and Recreation for approval. Parade application forms can be found on the City website and at the Bellaire Recreation Center. Parade is limited to the first 75 entries.
The Children's Parade, co-sponsored by the Bellaire Optimist Club, will start off the event and lead the Big Parade. Children can decorate their bikes and trikes and walk/ride in the parade to celebrate July 4. There is no application or charge for the Children’s parade. Children meet at the Bank of America parking lot on the Bellaire Boulevard side between 8:45-9:30 am. The Children's Parade will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. from the Bellaire Blvd. entrance in front of Bank of America, continue down South Rice Ave and stop near Condit Elementary School to watch the Big parade. If you would like to be judged for the decorating contest in the Children’s Parade, please be sure to arrive by 9:00 am for judging before the parade starts. The top three decorated children will receive trophies, theme Go for Gold, for the Summer Olympics.
The Festival will be located in Bellaire Town Square immediately following the parade. Children and adults will enjoy live music plus lots of games and food. The entertainment will be located at the pavilion this year so please bring your lawn chair or blanket to sit and enjoy the music! Attractions include a dunk booth, mini-Ferris wheel, moonwalk, Putt-Putt course, joust, petting zoo, rock wall, storytelling and carnival games for your July 4th fun. Bring your flag, bike and appetite to Bellaire Town Square for a day full of fun and festivities. There will also be a Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center donor coach located in front of City Hall during the festival. Parking is available on Fifth Street, Jessamine Street and the surrounding areas. South Rice Ave, in front of City Hall is not available for parking.
