City of West U's Independence Day Bike Parade & Pool Party
The City of West University Place Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Independence Day Bike Parade and Pool Party. Line up in front of West U. Elementary, 3756 University, at 8:45 a.m. to participate in the parade. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, wagons, and strollers. The Bike Parade begins promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 4. The parade route will continue west on University, turn south on Academy, and then proceed west on Byron to Colonial Park Pool.
Afterward, the festivities will continue from 9:15 a.m. to noon with complimentary admission to the pool. Be sure to take part in the excitement and visit with the balloon artists, Captain USA, Caricature drawings and more. Of course, you don’t want to miss the opportunity to earn some extra cash during the popular money dive, and be sure to have your camera ready during the annual “Dad’s Belly Flop” contest. Finally, take a dip in the pool for a 4th of July you won’t forget! West U Rotary will hold their annual BBQ fundraiser benefiting the West U Little League Challenger Program.
The event wraps up around noon, but enjoy a lazy afternoon at the pool as it will remain open until 6 p.m. For more information, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (713) 662-7420.
