Family Volunteer Day

Volunteer Houston, a program of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, joins hundreds of other Points of Light affiliates across the nation on Saturday, November 21 in observing Family Volunteer Day. This global day of service celebrates the power of families working together to support their communities and neighborhoods. This year, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the need is greater than ever and there are a variety of safe, socially distanced ways to lend a hand.

Volunteer Houston encourages families to join together on November 21 in volunteer work to help neighbors in need. There are a variety of ways to get involved. Activities that can be done at home include: making cards for homebound seniors or sick children, assembling holiday gift bags for seniors, writing thank you notes to volunteers, and collecting food for food pantries. Socially distanced activities that may be done at area charities include: sorting donations at warehouses, gardening, and delivering meals to seniors.
