Houston Hospice 24th Butterfly Luncheon
Alua Arthur, America’s leading death doula, will be the special guest at the Houston Hospice 24th Butterfly Luncheon. She captivates audiences with her relatable perspective on death, dying and everything in-between.
A New York Times bestselling author of, Briefly Perfectly Human: Making an Authentic Life by Getting Real About the End, this memoir reframes how we think about death and explores how death can help us lead better, more fulfilling and authentic lives.
At the close of the luncheon, guests will have the opportunity to chat with Alua and snap a selfie during a book signing. Sharing the spotlight with Alua will be our Houston Hospice volunteers as we celebrate them during National Volunteer Month.
Proceeds from the luncheon support Houston Hospice and our pediatric Butterfly Program, which cares for our youngest and most vulnerable patients.
Monica Hampton, who will serve as chair for this year’s luncheon, experienced firsthand the impact and importance the Butterfly Program has on families when her son, Jake, was a patient several years ago. She, along with her family, shared her story as the keynote speaker at the 2023 Butterfly Luncheon. Gina Gaston, lead anchor for ABC13 Houston, will serve as emcee.
