Journey Through Japan
Celebrate Spring Break by learning about Japan and its beautiful spring season. Each day during the week, the Asia Society will offer kid-friendly activities, from origami-making to a doll's festival, along with free screenings of Japanese anime movies. See the schedule of events below:
Monday, March 11:
Origami Spring Flowers: Learn about and create many different types of origami flowers, including a special technique for Mother's Day.
Movie: Lu Over the Wall
Tuesday, March 12:
Japanese Spring Characters: Learn about and draw spring-related, Japanese characters.
Movie: Pokémon the First Movie
Wednesday, March 13:
Onigiri and Bento: Create and eat Onigiri (rice balls) and Bento lunch boxes for the Ohanami season (cherry blossom viewing).
Movie: Oblivion Island – Haruka and the Magic Mirror
Thursday, March 14:
Doll's Festival: Learn about this traditional Japanese festival while building your own craft Japanese dolls.
Movie: Mirai
Friday, March 15:
Children's Day: Learn about this traditional Japanese festival while building your own carp (fish) decoration and samurai helmet.
Movie: Astro Boy
