The MFAH's 2024 Winter Festival: Lunar New Year
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston hosts a free, family-friendly winter festival to celebrate Lunar New Year. General admission to the Museum’s permanent-collection galleries will be free all day. The celebration will feature music performances, calligraphy demonstrations, art-making activities and a variety of food.
Performances will include taiko drummers with Kaminari Taiko of Houston, a musical performance form the North American Youth Chinese Orchestra (NAYCO), a martial arts demonstration from Vovinam Hoa Lu, a giant dragon and lion dance, and more. Families can also participate in art-making activities like creating firecracker sculptures, painting Vietnamese peach blossoms and more. Guests can also enjoy food from Hella Bubble, CaoBao, Chi’Lantro and more.
Visitors are also encouraged to stroll in the museum to see artwork in theArts of Asia galleries. The Museum's collections of Asian art span nearly five millennia and encompass the cultures of China, the Himalayas, India, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
