Mix and Match Cakes
Culinary instructor Caroline Wright will introduce you to simple, dependable recipes for cakes that are as inspiring to bake as they are to share. You'll learn to make the easy, from-scratch mix that is the basis for a range of delectable batters, how to alter or augment flavors with simple flavored syrups, and how to top your creations with frostings and toppings to create unique confections. The math is simple: Vanilla Confetti Cake + Vanilla Syrup + Malted Vanilla Frosting = Confetti Cake. Vanilla Olive Oil Cake + Fresh Rosemary Syrup + Lemon Pudding Frosting = Vanilla-Olive Oil Cake with Rosemary and Lemon. Both use the basic Vanilla Cake batter as a base, but result in very different, although equally delicious, cakes.
