Reliant Lights Mayor’s Holiday Spectacular
Mayor Sylvester Turner and Reliant will kick-off the holiday season with the in-person return of the beloved family holiday event, Reliant Lights Mayor’s Holiday Spectacular. The FREE event in Hermann Square at City Hall will feature live music and performances, the lighting of the towering tree, and additional activities and fun for all ages.
Pop icon Taylor Dayne will headline the event, featuring hit songs from her career spanning three decades. Taylor’s groundbreaking debut single “Tell It to My Heart” turned her into an overnight international star in 1987. She followed the smash hit with 17 Top 20 singles over the course of her career, including “Love Will Lead You Back,” “Prove Your Love,” and “I’ll always Love You.” Taylor has earned three GRAMMY nominations, an American Music Award, multiple New York Music Awards, received New York Music Hall of Fame honors and ranked as the Number 18 Female Dance artist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. She is one of the very few artists in musical history to successfully crossover into almost every musical genre and chart with hit singles in Pop, Dance, R&B, Adult Contemporary and Rock.
Additional performances will include Port Arthur native and “The Voice” contestant DeAndre Nico; Houston-born sisters, Shelby and Carley Nunn; Houston Contemporary Dance Company; Salvation Army Brass Band; Carver High School Dance Company; and Ernest Walker and the Official Holiday Band. Reliant will distribute free blinking Santa hats to all attendees, while supplies last. The LED lights are sponsored by Highland Village Shopping Center. The Gingerbread Village, sponsored by Raising Cane’s, will have seasonal food and beverages for sale and T-Mobile will provide free photos with Santa in his North Pole-themed booth. Oak Farms Dairy will sample eggnog to inspire the holiday spirit. The event will also create awareness for the Houston Food Bank and Disney’s Ultimate Toy Drive benefitting Toys for Tots.
