ROCO In Concert: To the Beat of a Different Drummer!

 

ROCO (River Oaks Chamber Orchestra) launches its 2017-18 “In Concert” series with “To the Beat of a Different Drummer.” Performances feature the world premiere commission of Paul Lansky’s Five Views of an Unfamiliar Tune, a concerto for percussion featuring Matt McClung, where each movement explores a different instrument: vibraphone, marimba, bongos, tom-toms, and children’s toys.

The program, conducted by Victor Yampolky, also features Kurt Weill’s Symphony No. 2, Hindemith’s Cupid and Psyche, and Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks.
