Ronald McDonald House Charities Red Shoe Chef Event
Join the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston/Galveston for a live culinary competition on Thursday, Oct. 8 at Bayou City Event Center. At this free-flowing affair, guests will intermingle between food stations to watch chefs prepare meals using only ingredients found in a McDonald's pantry and sample their creations. Chef creations will be graded by celebrity judges as they vie for the coveted “Red Shoe Chef Award.”
Celebrity Chefs include Chef Dee Dee Coleman of DEElicious Southern Cuisine, Chef Tiffani Janelle from Cake Coture and Chef Concierge to the Stars, Chef Paul Lewis of Paul's Kitchen, and Chef Kenten Marin from Holley's Seafood & Oyster Bar.
Two of the celebrity judges are also famous chefs, including Chef Tiffany Derry, Top Chef Contestant and Television Personality & Entrepreneur, and Chef Rey Darthard, the 2014 Red Shoe Chef Winner & Executive Team Chef for the Houston Rockets. The remaining celebrity judges will be Tracy McGrady, retired NBA All-Star and Cleverly Stone of Fox 26/CBS Sports Radio 650.
The top award for the night, chosen by the celebrity judges, will be the coveted “Red Shoe Chef 2015.” Also at large will be the “People's Choice Entrée” and “People's Choice Dessert,” both sponsored by NRG Energy, Inc. Guests will listen in on critiques by celebrity judges as they sample the various entrees and desserts created just for this event. The Foundation for Life and Growth will sponsor special entertainment for the evening featuring opportunities to win prizes in an unusual game show format that will have even the shyest person in the crowd jumping up to join the fun on stage.
Whether you take home a new recipe or leave inspired to become a master in the kitchen, all proceeds will go towards the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Houston/Galveston who serve to provide financial assistance to qualified entities and improve children’s health and well-being in the Greater Houston/Galveston area.
Sponsors include The McDonald's Owners Association of Greater Houston, Foundation for Life and Growth, NRG Energy Inc., Texas Children’s Hospital and many more.
