On select Sundays this summer, the Downtown Houston Management District (Downtown District) hosts a new entertainment series at Market Square Park. Second Sunday Revival plays on definitions of “revival” with a different experience each month from May to September.
The series begins with “Bloody Brass Brunch” on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, a showcase of some of Downtown’s best Bloody Marys and favorite local brass bands. Bartenders from Boomtown Coffee, Bovine & Barley and Swallow’s Nest at Finn Hall will be mixing Bloodies at the park, accompanied by sounds from New Orleans Hustlers Brass Band, Houston Brass Quintet and Brass Animals. Moms will enjoy a mimosa bar and a Mother’s Day self-care station hosted by Pop Shop America.
The Second Sunday Revival series continues with “Right Round Baby” in June, “Sunday School Sing-Along” in July and “Bring Bowski Back” in August before finishing with “Vida Antigua” in September.
The event is free to attend and suitable for all ages. Outside alcohol is not allowed; drinks are available for purchase at bar booths and food is available from Niko Niko’s and breakfast food trucks on-site.
